ActiveRain Moves to $89 per Month?
As a result to being subscribed to Jay’s post about why he deleted his blog posts from ActiveRain (here’s the specific comment) — I learned that ActiveRain has recently changed their pricing from $39 per month to $89 per month for their Rain Maker program. I just spent a few minutes browsing around ActiveRain trying to find a page detailing their pricing options — and found zilch.
Can anyone help point me in the right direction – does such a page exist & is the new pricing clear on that page if so? Not sure how AR doesn’t have a landing page for a paid program they are trying to sell; that seems beyond crazy to me. I was LOOKING to find information about the program, and all I could find are a few blog posts.
Lastly, do any agents think the Rain Maker program is worth $89 per month?

Posted at 17:35h, 31 JanuaryDrew – I looked high and low for pricing info too. Never found anything. Jeremy Blanton sent me a screen snip that showed a $89 price — that he could only get to after registering for a free account.
Pretty smart in some ways. You can pump up your membership numbers by not telling people the price to upgrade until *after* they become a member. Wonder how many would never register for a free account if they knew in advance what an upgrade costs. Please note, “pretty smart” doesn’t mean right. I think it’s a smarmy tactic.
Is it worth $89 a month? I didn’t think it was worth $39. But that’s just me. WordPress is free, and hosting is cheap. Time is expensive and effective blogging takes time on ANY platform. At least with your own domain and your own hosting, you won’t wake up one day with a bill twice the size it was yesterday….

business perspective though.

Posted at 07:25h, 01 FebruaryHi Drew – interesting timing. I just signed up for a basic account on Sunday and was floored when I went to upgrade to Rainmaker and was presented with $89/month. I was sent an email offer for $89/month today with a two month promo period at a minimal fee. I sent a response offering to join at the “average” Rainmaker monthly fee and was then offered $59/month – my guess is that the average fee per Rainmaker account is very low. I am sure it is a very good site/network but I am going to look to grow my own blog at http://www.findcarealestate.com/blog – a much better value proposition. Regards, Dave

Posted at 20:01h, 02 FebruaryThe screen shot was making its way around Facebook the other day. Think even the big proponents of AR were surprised at the huge increase. I am grandfathered in so I don’t pay, so it is easy for me to say that I would never pay that much for AR. I have made some great friends on that network, but at the end of the day, my blog is still a business expense. My WP blog easily outranks my AR blog and AR drops every year as driver of traffic to my business.

Posted at 13:18h, 07 FebruaryI thought I was going crazy when my colleagues could post their blogs for the public but I couldn’t. Then I checked into it and it said I had to be a RainMaker for my blog posts to go public. $89 a month is too much, so I called and asked if there was a lower membership, they said I could get it for $59/month. That’s still probably too much for me but I will try it for two months and probably cancel. I’d love to be able to stay with ActiveRain. My colleague says his AR blog gets better ranking than his other blog. It would be worth it if it was a lower price. I don’t know. I’ll keep you posted after the two months.

Posted at 21:39h, 22 AprilDREW…what is going on at ACTIVERAIN? I think they are imploding. Check the web for multiple sources of folks trying to cancel their activerain rainmaker accounts with NO success. I’ve been trying to cancel with no success. No phone calls returned, no returned emails…today their server is down so one can’t try online again to cancel. There is something fishy going on there…i’m going to have to cancel my credit card…

Posted at 06:46h, 10 OctoberI decided to close my ActiveRain account. The decision was easy because I could not see a return on the money spent. Thanks for confirming my decision.

Posted at 06:48h, 18 DecemberI am amazed the ActiveRain does not tell you that a year subscribtion is $349 (might have gone up) if you pay up front.

Posted at 12:04h, 24 April$49/month is what they were charging me.
This is AFTER I cancelled!
Yep. They started billing me $49/month after cancelling a $1/month trial.
I tried ActiveRain for the $1/month, then spoke with the salesman and cancelled twice. The salesman’s notes said,”He’s a busy man but is enjoying ActiveRain.” They said because I was ‘logging in’ they consider me to be a ‘RainMaker.’ – I was just reading the funny blog posts.

Nothing ActiveRain promised would happen during the $1 Trial Month came to fruition.
ActiveRain is NOT worth the internet space it takes up.
