Mike Price with MLBroadcast and I were regulars at Inman for several years. It was nice to go back after a several year hiatus. But as Mike says…I digress.

The thing that I enjoyed the most at Inman was the energy. Years ago when I attended people leaned back in their chairs and their body language said “Interesting, but I don’t see the use.” This time they were sitting on the edge of their seats and saying “I’m going home and doing that!” What was even more interesting were the people that were sitting in the sessions actually doing it on their wireless laptops, pda, iPhones, and blackberry’s. It was truly amazing to be surrounded by such a connect crowd.

Among the items on my list of “When I get home I’m going to do this” are:

  • Sign up for realseekr. Done. Realseekr is one of the most comprehensive portals for all parties in a real estate transaction to connect. What others have missed, they picked up on such as blogging with in the site, Question and Answer section, inexpensive business ads, and great listing content.
  • Spend more time on the Zillow Mortgage Market place. It was nice to spend a few minutes with Drew Meyers taking a different look at the Marketplace.
  • Spend more time on agentgenius.com. I had the opportunity to meet Benn and Lani. Super nice people that have a great idea.
  • Understand mybloglog. Thanks to TillyMcClain for the 30 second elevator pitch at Bar Camp. I have signed up for it and with other types of technology, is going to take me a bit to fully get.

While there is a long list of people that I really enjoyed meeting there are four that I wanted to mention. Kris Berg, with Prudential California for her “Oatmeal” comment, Mara Hawks with First Realty in Auburn, AL as a relative newbie to Real Estate sales and an quick adopter of social media, and Allen McKay with Bug Realty for their innovative approach to marketing and branding. And last but certainly not least, Ken Brand with Prudential Gary Greene. I’ve known Ken for years, he’s always been on the leading edge of technology and hasn’t lost that passion.

Two things I’d like to suggest to everyone.

  1. Plan on attending the next Inman Connect if you want to grow your business. It is truly an eye-opening experience.
  2. Hold a Bar Camp in your area. It a cheap and effective way to network, share ideas, and grow your business. If you need some direction on setting one up or just want to see what it’s all about visit www.rebarcamp.com.

On a personal note, I resigned from RMC Vanguard. Owen Raun, President of RMCV is one of the best people I have ever worked for. I consider him one of the brightest and best minds in the Mortgage business today. I will be eternally grateful to him for having patience with my crazy ideas and having my back on so many occasions. Above and beyond all of that, he’s a good guy which in the end is all that really matters

So I’m off to bigger and better things…..stay tuned for what it will be.
