I know first hand how scary not having a backup can be. I accidentally deleted my blog, only to find my latest backup wasn't as recent as I would have liked.

I now have my blogged backed up and emailed to me every day. I keep 2 copies in my backup blog email folder at all times. On top of that, I backup the server the blog is on daily to an external hard drive.

But it took the pain of making that mistake to finally kick my own butt into gear. Learn from my mistake. Here's the wordpress plug-in I use:

This is a great tool Drew! One more easy way to keep a back up is to export your blog files to your local computer periodically. This way you have a local copy that can be imported if necessary.

Thank you for this advice. Are there any complications in backing up a blog? Or anything we should look for specifically?

Drew,

I sure wish this learning experience had occurred another way other than my own personal mishap :)

At any rate, thanks for the Wordpress link. It has moved up to the top of my things to check out.

Thanks for keeping backing things up at the forefront of my mind - most of us do far too little planning for such failures.
