There are no shortage of web design and SEO firms that rely on spamming people to find clients. Here’s a hint — spamming is NOT the way to attract clients, especially if you are a technology company. I’ve received the following e-mail from Don at Trannsen Information Technologies no fewer than 20 times over the past few months (it seems every couple days there’s a new one in my junk mail).
We have not received any reply yet. You are receiving this email because we wish you to use our web design service.

I particularly want to highlight this part of the e-mail:

Really; you don’t say? There is a reason I haven’t responded — I don’t want to use your services. You would think after not responding to 20+ e-mails, that was obvious. Some advice for Trannsen Information Technologies:
- Spamming is not a good way to attract clients. Rather, it actually hurts your brand by causing things such as this blog post.
- Focus your time on helping your potential clients by engaging in real conversations already happening on the web about topics your specialize in.
- Start a blog and help people understand what you offer.
- Please take me off your mailing list.
Thanks for listening.
- Stumble it!

I couldn’t agree more! I have been receiving this email almost daily for as many months as I can remember.

Congrats, you’ve earned the top g00gle search match for Tranny Info Tech.
Just in case those douchenozzles show up here, be sure to tell ‘em for me [removed by moderator]. I wouldn’t hire them to shovel out a cesspool.
On second thought… )

I have recently found my way on to one of these email lists as well and received numerous emails from “companies” wanting to increase my rankings and search position.
My tactic: I usually respond back with a polite email stating that both my rankings and my search traffic are already better that their own and then offer them my services for their website, of course with an over inflated price
.
I am sure that really ticks someone off, its kind of fun though. I would never of course work with them, I just like to rub their noses in their own doodie a bit.

Me too… I must have received this email 50 times. Each time though, “Don” is using a different email address which has no relation to his purported name or company, so it’s not just commercial spam, it’s going through a zombie network or whatever they call it.
