Introducing MyBlogLog “About Me” Widgets to the RE.net
By Drew Meyers | January 25, 2008
Over the past 2 years, I’ve seen numerous real estate blogs adopt the MyBlogLog Recent Readers widget — and I love the fact that so many use it. However, I have yet to see a real estate blogger adopt the new About Me widget MBL announced in mid-December. I think this is a great way to easily show off your online presence in one module without having to add “badges” from every social network in your repertoire. I’ve implemented the widget on my personal blog (right sidebar) if you want to see what it looks like on an actual blog.
For those who contribute to multiple blogs, or maintain several blogs targeting different niches, the “sites authored” section of the widget does a great job of showing off other sites you contribute to.
Though, related to real estate, there’s no current option to add social network profile links in the real estate space like ActiveRain, Zillow, Trulia, etc. But maybe — just maybe — if the RE.net creates enough of an uproar, MBL will consider adding some real estate specific fields.
The next widget I would like to see? How about a widget for each “blog” that displays all the contributing authors to a particular blog — that would be a great addition to Geek Estate, or any multi-author blog for that matter.
If you want further details, please head over to the MyBlogLog blog.

Good tip on the MyBlogLog widget.
However, I still prefer the ‘Cehck My Pulse’ widget from Plaxo:

As it does pull posts from each blog you author and includes your ‘diggs’, flickr pics, and utterz (among others.) I am currently only using it on my personal friends and family blog, but am considering placing it on all of my blog sidebars.

I use it on my outside blog for my activerain posts and use my outside “about me” on the AR posts.

I like the way that widget looks - I’ll bet it could be manipulated for other uses as well.
