Here are some gems worth reading (and watching):

Start by watching David’s “Blogging is so 2008” video:

Here is conversation on David’s Active Rain blog.

Then head over and read Rob Hahn’s response — Blogging is Forever: Branding vs. Lead Generation

Anyone that knows me personally knows that I’m a huge advocate for anything that improves the lives of others (see here, here, and here), so I have to highlight Benn’s two most recent posts — Using Real Estate Social Media to Broaden Community Non-Profit Efforts and 10 Steps to Organizing a Real Estate Social Media Non-Profit Community Channel

And finally, Justin Smith has some good learning to share about getting listings indexed — My Personal Experience with Getting Real Estate Listings Indexed By Google

    Hey Drew,
Thanks for the mention! Would love to talk to you about it sometime.

Liked the video… he makes some valid points, but I didn’t like the choppy editing.

    Hi Drew,

Thanks for the article and I do agree, to an extent with what you are saying.

Blogging is becoming more and more important both from the perspective of “getting your message out there” but also from an SEO perspective. Ultimately, in this market, it is also free and the only investment is time. You cannot get much better than that.

However, my one thought, looking forward several months/years maybe. Use of video is going to become widespread and so you are going to come across the same challenges i.e. making yours different and more interactive or better informed etc etc.

If everyone just picks up the camera and talks into it very soon people will just switch of and so variety is the order of the day in my book.

I have certainly learnt a lot in the past six months since I really looked into Web 2.0 and its implications on Real Estate – I am convinced that it is going to stay and so make time for it everyday. Feel free if you have the time to check out my blog from a couple of months ago (really need to review this now and update considering I have learnt so much since!) about the First month of Social Media – http://jamesdearsley.wordpress.com/2009/04/27/my-thoughts-about-social-media-after-my-first-month/

It is certainly an interesting period of business at the moment and we are really in a period of transition which is most exciting

    Best wishes.

    James
