Thanks for sharing my little rant about Blog Comments and SEO companies, Drew. Sometimes you just have to spit it out! Nice little list for the geeks, BTW.

I just cringe when I see an bad SEO company take advantage of people by bad practices. I take it upon myself to learn everything I can about SEO and legitimate ways of promoting my website, I look at it as building long term business relationships instead of seeing who can be number one. I have come across many of those spammy comments and they are just plain ridiculous.

Also, I think guest blogging is a great way to promote your website/business/product. Again, not only are you getting to promote yourself but you are building and maintaining relationships. I have done guest blogging and such and have found that generally people are very nice and will go above and beyond to help, all you have to do is ask and be tactful about it.

I thought the reading about SEO companies was very interesting. I think that it’s important to be aware of what practices the people you hire are using. I also have a blog, and I am sick of irrelevant comments and attempts to sneak a link. It’s such a waste of my time, but unfortunately shady people still do it. My advise is to do due diligence- Find out your SEO companies online reputation, and stay away from anyone who promises quick results. Your SEO should gently manage your expectations -because as business owners we sometimes want what isn’t realistic and end up funding these scum bags.

I have found that most people and companies claiming to be SEO experts are usually frauds. Willing to take your money and really not being able to deliver real results.

You can find good companies out there that can deliver great results, but you do have to be careful and wade through the huge number of companies that are scams.

Yea, Hawaii Real Estate Guy, that is a big over generalization don’t you think. Was it your strategy that got your site a 30+ day ban in google SERPS?

Check it out out a search ‘hawaii real estate’ what happened? I thought you said you were friends with MC?

Maybe your three way linking campaign, spoofed sub domains and bogus sites were not a good idea. Maybe you should have hired a professional SEO firm?

    What do you think?
