It’s a sad day, MyBlogLog which made its name by helping bloggers build communities around their blogs and giving bloggers insight into where people are coming from and what they are clicking, is being discontinued. I fell in love with MyBlogLog immediately after learning about their service a few years ago. I got to know Eric & Todd (co-Founders) quite well, and wrote about them A LOT on my personal blog. I remember when Zillow added the widget to Zillow Blog. The MyBlogLog recent readers widget was one of the widgets that got fairly wide adoption for in the real estate vertical back in 2006 and 2007 when blogging was just beginning to take off. It helped me put faces to blogger names.

I STILL use MyBlogLog almost daily to see real time traffic stats on my blogs and monitoring what people are clicking on (rather than 1 day old stats in Google Analytics). So the news that they are being shut down kind of stings — and I know I’m not the only one.

Here is the email that was sent out today:

I think, rather than shutting it down, they should give it to me. Seriously, that would be cool. I say we start a petition to hand the site over to me. Okay, I know that would never happen – but it’s fun to think about nonetheless.

Did you love MyBlogLog? If so, OneTrueFan is bringing back the classic MBL stats at SxSW this year!!
