NAR Responds in DC

This “Google is a scraper” issue has been all the rage the past week since it hit Agent Genius (370 comments now and coverage on a variety of blogs and forums). The issue was discussed at NAR midyear (Jay Thompson’s coverage), and the MLS Committee is recommending a Google policy change. It has been recommended the language of 15.2.2 of the MIBOR MLS Rules and Regulations be revised to state the following:

Participants must protect IDX information from unauthorized uses.  This requirement does not prohibit indexing of IDX sites by search engines.

Head over to Agent Genius for the ensuing discussion.

Well MIBOR, the board that started this whole mess, proposed an amendment to refer back to committee. And the NAR Board of Directors in their infinite wisdom voted to do just that — refer the proposed changes back to the MLS Committee for further discussion.

So much for the little guys (you know, the dues paying members of the NAR).

NAR – is a complete joke. I have never met a seller yet that did not want as much exposure for their listing as they could get. Who are they trying to protect here? Usually all the people on the MLS and Board committees are losers that do not do any kind of business and are living in the past. Clinging to old ways and things that do not make sense.
