New Twitter Title Tags Increase Google Juice

If you’re been on Twitter.com lately checking out a users profile you may have noticed the new title tags. They used to be “Twitter / ZipvoJames” but in a change that went live yesterday they are now “James Shiner (ZipvoJames) on Twitter”

Anyone who knows about search engine optimization knows that this is huge! This move will help get your Twitter profile to the top of the search results when someone searches your name.
If my past posts, the recent press, or your friends haven’t convinced you to get on Twitter yet, hopefully this does. Not only will Twitter help you connect with friends, family, associates and customers, it will also add to your Google Juice!

Very interesting… I’ve been thinking about breaking into twitter recently- would be nice to get that vanity search full of my stuff eh?

Hmm, Well it does seem like it’s a pretty good little addition to my twitter. I got on as @kauairealtor pretty early on, and it’s be useful so far.

Smart SEO move by twitter. They already rank very well for names, and this is only going to improve that.

So now our Twitter “hobby” has “value”? How fun is that!

Oh my goodness — I’ll have to spend even more time on Twitter! I agree with Fran and Rowena more fun time in work works for me!

I hadn’t noticed this yet. Thank you for the update, good for them, that’ll rank your twitter page over facebook I hope. I would rather my twitter page show up before my facebook because I like people to follow on twitter but I don’t like to be friends with people on facebook that I have never met.

This might be true for a while, but Google will probably stop the ‘juice’ factor soon I’d think. SeoBlackHat has a good read on the ‘Twitter’ effect on SERPs – http://seoblackhat.com/2009/03/03/twitter-the-new-parasite-host-on-the-block/

I agree it will help your Twitter page move up on the search results for your name, but Twitter does not pass any Google juice at all. They have a no follow on the link to your web site. They put a condom on that a while ago. If you are referring to Google Juice as Page Rank like most people do.

Any added value and link juice is appreciated. I do have a twitter account and have made many new contacts and networking through the site. I hadn’t known about Twitter too terribly long, this is just another reason to spend more time on there and use it more often as well.

Have a look at this blog http://www.blogstorm.co.uk/google-starts-ranking-twitter-search-results-pages/ which discusses changes in Twitter and how Google is going is trying to index pages of Twitter. Apparently, Twitter actually blocks google spider, but google are finding ways around it. Twitter probably realise that they are missing a trick and this is the first of many changes.

That is great news!! Twitter is getting to be bigger and bigger for promoting sites, news and business-now with added SEO juice it is even BETTER. Thanks for pointing this out to everyone.

Just started tweeting last weekend and I am addicted. I am not quit convinced it will do anything for SEO, but the exposure can certainly help.

Oh my…I may have to be more careful what I tweet. Up to this point, I figured that the only people that would see it would be people that understand that Twitter is about being yourself, and sharing your personal life, rather than just being all about business. I guess no more complaining about unproductive days!
Wouldn’t want to give future clients the wrong idea.

Good catch. This is definite plus.

Twitter does not increase Google Juice, but definately can increase your business if you a lot of followers.
