Nikon USA recently announced a new line up of CoolPix cameras. Advances in technology and ease of use in digital cameras could have you taking better listing photos right out of the box. Some of the new point and shoot cameras now include the one feature most important to real estate professionals, wide angle. I think the best of the new line up for real estate are the P100 and L110.

p100The P100 sports a 10.3 megapixel with an impressive 26x optical wide angle zoom lens made with Nikkor ED glass. A new backside illuminated CMOS sensor promises higher quality images overall. Built in HDR (high dynamic range) imaging will make it easier to capture shots that show the outside of windows as clearly as it does the indoors. Suggested retail is $399.

L110The L110 is a 12.1 megapixel with a 15x optical zoom and 28-420mm wide angle Nikkor glass lens. It features HD movie output and VR image stabilization. BSS (best shot selector) will take up to 10 shots while the shutter is pressed and select the sharpest of the images. Suggested retail is $279.

If you’re using an older digicam or you’ve pushed your current point and shoot to the limit, you may want to look at the new Coolpix lineup.

Michael- Neither of these cameras are wide enough to shoot good interior shots. You need at least 24mm wide-angle lens for pleasing interior shots. The P100 is marginally close (26mm) but the L110 is not close (28mm). There are plenty of other cameras to recommend to Realtors that are 24mm or wider... like the new Fujifilm FinePix HS10 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3. Both are a better choice than the P100 and the L110 because they have a 24mm lens.

    Michael,
I don't agree... neither of these cameras are appropriate for shooting real estate because they are marginally wide enough. You need at least a 24 mm (35mm effective lens) to get pleasing interior shots. The P100 is close (26mm) but the L110 isn't even close (28mm). There are plenty of better alternatives out there that are 24mm.
