One Fewer Place to Upload Your Listings - Edgeio Going Under
By Drew Meyers | December 10, 2007
Last week, Techcrunch reported that Edgeio is shutting down. Edgeio was an online classifieds site that spanned housing, autos, jobs, merchandise, and jobs. The fact that they will be ceasing operations soon means there is now one less online destination where you can upload your listing information.
Based on the 2 comments on Sara Bonert’s post on ActiveRain, I realized not all real estate professionals read TechCrunch like I do — so it made sense to give everyone a heads up that Edgeio is no longer an option when thinking about where to advertise your listings online.
What caused the site to fold? Well, I have no research to back me up, but I’ll venture that Craigslist had a little to do with it.

It looks like it might just live on… In an article on Venture Beat, the CEO Keith Teare talks about possibly buying the company or selling the assets to a competitor:

ADES, the real estate MLS IDX provider that they own, could be pretty valuable to a company interested in having 57 MLS’s already integrated. My regrets to the men and women who gave Edgeio a great shot at succeeding. 8 million hits a month… that’s great.
