Social Photo Media Marketing

Flickr.com is one of my favorite photo hosting sites. The SEO generated from Flickr is just one reason I use their “paid” service and membership. Having said that, here’s a brand new feature PhotoBucket just announced that I hope Flickr will investigate and soon incorporate.
Sharing pictures and videos just got a whole lot easier. Photobucket has launched a new one-click sharing to all the major social networking sites and blog sites. Now you can put your favorite video on MySpace, share that awesome picture on Facebook, or embed your Real Estate photos and listings on your blog.

Take the sharing features for a spin with single pictures, your whole album or a slideshow. Whether you choose to share by IM, email, or posting to social networks, blogs and forums, Photobucket has got you covered.
So I tested this last night and it works flawlessly, and it only takes seconds to initiate. While PhotoBucket seems to be on the cutting edge with this new feature, I can only hope that Flickr has plans to keep up with their competition. Flickr is very limited in this arena.
Photos and video are big proponents of Real Estate, they capture the interest of many on-line consumers. The investment of “Time” is also a key element in Social Media Marketing and Networking. How do these components impact both (you) the provider, and the end user (your customer) when deciding which service is best for you?
Which photo and video hosting site are you using and why? Does having the ability to syndicate your work “Socially” play a role in your choice as to which site you would use? I’d love to hear what others think and feel? Your feedback and comments are greatly appreciated.

Great discovery Brad. I have a Flickr account, but I never really got into it because amount of time involved and the lack of SEO value. I never realized that there was seo value in the paid version.
After reading this, maybe I need to take a strong look at PhotoBucket?

Ryan – I really like flickr and the SEO, but having my photos backed up in case of HD failure brings even more security and comfort knowing they’ll always be available.
Accessing them from the web anywhere, anytime is great. Photobucket adding the ability to use photos more socially is a great improvement on their part, I hope flickr will do the same.

Aloha Guy – Photobucket, Flickr, Picasa and many others are competing to be the premier “Photo Hosting” sites for consumers.
I think the one with the most value and ease of use will win. Having options and tools to work with on these sites will be the key to their success.

Brad, Thank you for the tips. I have been dedicated to flickr…I am going to put photobucket on the list to explore.
Thanks again.

Flickr does however have limits on the ways that businesses can utilize their system. You need to be mindful of over commercialization, but can still use it creatively to get additional attention by sharing great pictures of your houses. One strategy might be to categorize your homes you’re listing by architecture, and in the comments point out the ups and downs, and occasionally link to the actual details page of the listing, or a related page on your website.

Brad – This does look like a terrific feature. I have only recently started to understand how much functionality Flickr really has. It sounds like Photobucket is ahead of the game with this particular item.

Mortgage Mark – great point, thanks for sharing that.
I also link back to my flickr photos when posting them elsewhere as smaller images. If readers want to see the full size photo, they simply click on it, and the link brings them back to the original photo hosted on Flickr.

Hey Jason – I’m hoping flickr will be enhancing and updating their Social Media and Networking tools soon. I would love to see this feature available on Flickr.

Don’t forget that when you create your Flickr Profile to add you website URL- I recently got flickr, and already my profile is a recognized inbound link when I look at my Google Webmaster Tools account.
Also, don’t forget to optimize the impact of your image -Here’s a blog I recently read on that topic

Hope it’s helpful for yall like it was for me

I am a garden enthusiast as well as a Realtor. This post has inspired me to post up pictures of the landscaping and gardening I’ve done for my client’s houses! Thx!

Gina – that’s an awesome use of these tools. Glad this post was inspirational for you.
Brad Andersohn on March 26, 2009 8:46 am
Brian – adding your website, blog and other links is always a good idea. Having your online tools inter-connected can never hurt your seo and visibility. Yes, often times it does increase your sites traffic.

I was not aware of the SEO value in the paid portion of Flickr. I will check into that. I do like photobuckets share to any social network feature.
