There is No Place for Personal Attacks in the RE.net
By Drew Meyers | February 16, 2008
I 2nd Russell’s point. I’m not going to single anyone out by name or with a link, but there have been several personal attacks in the RE.net over the past several months that have bothered me. This is just a friendly reminder for everyone to follow one of Dustin’s rules when writing — “If you are going to attack something… attack ideas, not people.” We practice this same rule of thumb for moderating Zillow Discussions — debate the issues, not the people — and it works.
Even if you really don’t like someone or their ideas (which does happen from time to time), there is no need to insult them publicly; and definitely no benefits to doing so.
Bottom line — debate the ISSUES all day long, but there is no place for personal attacks in the NE.net.

Drew I quite agree. This is not a new problem it has been going on for some time. I find it interesting that such a post was written on the Bloodhound blog. I think it was last year that the hound him self wrote about the evil he saw in my heart. I don’t know how much more personal a blog post could get.

Well said Drew.
I grow weary of it. But I doubt it will ever stop.
Just seems so….. pointless? Childish? Stupid?

Agreed — I’d say pointless, childish, and stupid all apply to personal attacks.

We’ve got enough problems right now. Let’s try to stay positive and battle over the best ideas to fix the market. It’s easy to get negative when things are tough.
