What Does the Future of Broker Websites Entail?

Once again, Rob has started an interesting discussion over at Notorious R.O.B. The question being discussed:

In 2015, with companies like Trulia, Zillow, Roost and others really advancing the technology of real estate search, should brokers have their own search site?

What do you think — should brokerages develop their own search technology or outsource it to others?

    Brokers should not try to develop technology. They need to focus on selling homes and what it takes to do that is evolving.

    I see the big players you mention tailoring there apps and providing search to brokers in the next few years. Not just the big national brands but to local and midsize brokers.

    I agree that most brokers have no business developing their own technology. They should stick to selling real estate and find a good company to handle their websites.

    I think the key to retain users is to keep things simple and easy for the user searching brokers sites. More is not always better. Some companies have too many options and lose the user. Something to keep in mind :-)
