Metrowest MA - care to share a link to your AR blog and/or profile so we might be able to take a look at why you are so successful with AR?

I've been an AR member since practically Day 1 (before there were even blogs) and have never had direct contact from anyone other than another Realtor (well, and from people trying to sell me stuff).

My only concern with AR continues to be two-fold:
1) who owns the content you supply (ie: what happens if/when they sell out to some other entity); and 2) how do you seperate yourself from the other 50,000+ AR members.

Personally, I still think that you are far better off branding yourself and putting your content on your own blog rather than adding it to the collective of 50K other members.

If you are in Real Estate, have a blog, and want consumers to find it, you should be paying very close attention to SEO. SEO is a complicated subject and there are many things you can do to increase your google rank. Content is certainly king. The title of your post is very important as well. You should have keywords to match your title but they should be written naturally and not just stuffed in for the sake of having them. In areas where there are many bloggers you should be focusing on the long tail and not so much the short tail. Active Rain is an excellent platform in my opinion. The big G certainly likes Active Rain. I have been on Active Rain for a little over three months and have gotten 4 new listing directly attributed to being there.

Congratulations Mike. The Google page rank algorithm definitely responds to regular, new content posted on a page consistently over a period of months. It's important to repeatedly use the word or series of words you want Google rank you high in. For example, in the last 8 to 10 months I've worked my way from several pages back in Google search results for the search term "real estate photography" to #1. I always use the phrase "real estate photography" several times in the post and in the post title if at all possible. The words you use in the post title are most important.
