Who is NAR’s Social Media Manager Going to Be?

real/diaBlog is reporting that the NAR social media manager position is filled, but the final hire hasn’t been announced yet. My hunch is Todd Carpenter, but I honestly have no idea. Any guesses as to who is going to get the nod? What’s the first thing they need to tackle within the 1st few weeks on the job?

The first thing this person needs to tackle is to explain why as Realtors we have such expensive dues and still have to pay a ridiculous amount of money to advertise on Realtor.com?

    My Man Tony!

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Maybe they could in kind take the ridiculous amount of annual dues they collect and work to make realtor.com, no such a worthless POS.

This Todd Carpenter Guy seems exciting though, here’s hoping!

If I were a betting man, my money would be on Todd.

The first thing the SMM needs to do is dive into understanding the organizational dynamics of the NAR. NOT “be assimilated” but just get a feel of the people and the dynamics of those hallowed halls.

This person will have a target on their back right out of the chute. It’s important for the vocal minority to understand that Rome wasn’t built in a day, week, or month. It’s going to take time, and maybe a lot of it before we see changes.

I’ve been fortunate enough to discuss social media and this position with several in the NAR leadership team. I’m pleased (and yes, surprised) to say that they “get it” more than I thought they did.

But there is still much to learn. Hopefully this person can help them with that. I’ll support whoever they chose, and think it’s important that we all give him/her our support.
