Steering Committee Decision – Theme Framework Recommendation
The steering committee has discussed the theme framework decision, and decided on Genesis (affiliate link) as the recommended theme framework for Geek Build 2012.
Why?
As you can see based on Ricardo’s post, any of the premium theme frameworks can be used effectively for a real estate agent site. However, Genesis seems to be the most flexible and powerful platform, with the strongest support community behind it. One of our steering committee members, Dominic Morrocco, has used Genesis to build one of the best brokerage sites in the industry, M Squared Real Estate. The fact that Genesis is powerful enough to handle a very complex brokerage site speaks volumes to its capabilities. Personally, I certainly put a lot of weight into what products those I trust use and recommend — and Dominic has had nothing but great things to say about Genesis over the past year that I’ve gotten to know him.
So, Genesis it is…
Next up in Geek Build 2012? The long awaited IDX decision. Then we can can finish up wireframing and move on to design.
Note from the Editor: Not sure what Geek Build 2012 is? It’s building a few real estate websites from scratch publicly with the help of the Geek Estate Community and overseen by an experienced steering committee. Posted at 22:30h, 29 MarchGreat choice. I use Genesis and the AgentPress 2.0 child theme for my site http://bigrockinvestments.com . I did some customizations but nothing outlandish. I like the flexibility of theme but it was the support community, both Studiopress personnel and users alike, that sealed the deal for me. I need something that can stick with me for years and a strong support base of established active users is an absolute requirement, in my opinion.
